Do you require your own Public Liability Insurance policy for your booking?
If you or your organisation, as the hirer, is;
- a sporting body
- a club
- an association
- a corporation
- an incorporated body
- hiring for a commercial and / or profit making purpose
you will need to provide your own public liability insurance.
What do you need to provide to Council?
You will need to provide a valid public liability insurance policy certificate of currency, that shows;
- a minimum of $20 million cover
- the geographical scope where the policy applies
- the activities the policy covers
- the insured name/s the policy covers
- the currency period of the policy (start and end dates) **
For regular hirers, e.g. a monthly booking, you may be asked to have your insurer include Council as an interested party on the certificate of currency
** certificates of currency that have expired will not be accepted.
** a tax invoice from an insurer offering to renew the policy for future currency period will not be accepted.
If you or your organisation is not one of the above, you may not need to provide your own public liability insurance. Council may be able to provide liability cover for you.
