Ballina Shire Council operates seven community facilities in the Ballina Shire. There are also nine community halls operated by committees throughout the Shire. We have a variety of spaces, from small interview rooms to a spacious event venue seating 550 people, all available for hire by individuals, community groups and businesses. The spaces are perfect for events, weddings, functions, meetings and classes and a discounted rate is available for community and not-for-profit bookings.
Many of our spaces operate on a self-service model where the venue is empty at the start of the booking. In this instance hirers are required to setup and pack down the room and must include and pay for setup and pack down time in their booking. Hirers are required to leave the space empty when the booking is finished.

In 2009, Ballina Shire Council opened the Ballina Community Services Centre on Bangalow Road in Ballina. Now called the Kentwell Community Centre, this contemporary complex is home to a number of important local community services organisations: Tweed Ballina Byron Community Transport; St Andrews Aboriginal Respite; and Choice Passion Life (CPL). The centre also has two combinable meeting rooms and two interview rooms managed by Council and available for public hire.
The Lennox Head Cultural Centre opened in mid-2011, offering a wide range of purpose-built spaces.
The Ballina Surf Club was opened in mid-2013, consisting of three function rooms, café, kiosk, and surf lifesaving training rooms.
In 2017, Council reached agreement with the Department of Education to construct a two-court indoor sports centre to be integrated with another two-court facility at Ballina Coast High School.
The new Ballina Indoor Sports Centre (BISC) was officially opened on 6 November 2019. The new centre houses two international standard indoor sports courts, spectator areas, foyer/reception area, change rooms and amenities, first aid room, and three meeting rooms.
