History
In 2009, Ballina Shire Council opened the Kentwell Community Centre in the heart of Ballina. This contemporary complex is home to a number of local community services organisations: Tweed Ballina Byron Community Transport; St Andrews Aboriginal Respite; and Choice Passion Life (CPL). The centre also has two combinable meeting rooms and two interview rooms that are available for hire.
The Lennox Head Cultural Centre opened in mid-2011, and provides five meeting spaces, a dedicated children's area, CWA Hall and main auditorium that can seat up to 550 people. Located in the seaside town of Lennox Head, and across from the beach, it is a stunning location for all cultural and corporate events.
The Ballina Surf Club located right on Lighthouse Beach in East Ballina opened in mid-2013. It consists of three good sized function rooms, all with stunning ocean views, an oceanfront café, a beach kiosk, and surf lifesaving training rooms. It is the perfect venue for business meeting and conferences and private weddings and functions.
In 2017, Council reached agreement with the Department of Education to construct a two-court indoor sports centre, that was integrated with the two-court facility at Ballina Coast High School right next door.
Located in the centre of town, the Ballina Indoor Sports Centre (known locally as the BISC) opened in November 2019. The BISC houses two international standard indoor sports courts, spectator areas, a large foyer and reception area that is perfect for function space, change rooms and amenities, first aid room, and three bookable meeting rooms.
