Ballina Shire Council operates five community facilities in the Ballina Shire. There are also twelve community halls operated by committees throughout the Shire. We have a variety of spaces, from small interview rooms to a spacious event venue seating 550 people, all available for hire by individuals, community groups and businesses. The spaces are perfect for events, weddings, functions, meetings and classes and a discounted rate is available for community and not-for-profit bookings.

Self-Service Model

All of our spaces are empty at the start of the booking. Hirers are required to setup and pack down the room and must include and pay for setup and pack down time in their booking. Hirers are required to leave the space empty when the booking is finished.

In 2009, Ballina Shire Council opened the Ballina Community Services Centre on Bangalow Road in Ballina. Now called the Kentwell Community Centre, this contemporary complex is home to a number of important local community services organisations; FSGA: Freedom Social Justice Growth Australia (previously Ballina District Community Services Association); Tweed Ballina Byron Community Transport; and St Andrews Aboriginal Respite. The centre also has two combinable meeting rooms and two interview rooms managed by Council and available for public hire.

The Lennox Head Cultural and Community Centre opened in mid-2011, offering a wide range of purpose-built spaces.

The new Ballina Surf Club was opened in mid-2013, consisting of 3 function rooms, café and surf lifesaving training rooms.
